Benefits of Thermally Modified Wood

In an ever more responsible world, the importance of wood keeps growing. Accordingly Polatoglu Metal Corporation, providing the premium-quality termowood products import and from design to manufacturing and installation has been offering qualified servicing at their factory in Azerbaijan Baku city particularly.

If I need to give some information about this subject briefly.

Please carefully review below.

What is Thermowood?

Thermowood, also known as heat treated timber, is a beautiful, sustainable timber material produced using chemical-free heat treatment.

How long does thermowood last?

around 30 years

Thermowood is rated as class 2, which is durable.

(BRE give a life span for this product of around 30 years). One of the benefits of this product is it's stability, the thermal modification process reduces the moisture content in the board ensuring less movement.

What is Thermo ash?

Novawood Thermo Ash

The kiln dried timber is heated to 212°C at which point the timber's natural properties change and it turns a rich walnut brown colour. The process uses only heat and water and is completely chemical free with the energy for the kilns generated from wood waste.

Is thermowood any good?

Thermowood Uses

Its wide range of advantageous qualities enable the material to be used for both exterior and interior purposes. Its high resistance to moisture and decay make it an excellent material for exterior projects.

Does heat treated wood rot?

Heat treating woodalters the composition and properties of wood, stripping off its ability to decompose even with the exposure to dampness and extreme humidity. Heat treated pallets are resistant to fungi and other microorganisms that would otherwise increase the risks of rotting.

How do you treat Thermowood?

Thermowood is created by heat treating. Scandinavian softwood to temperatures ranging from 180 – 230° in special chamber kilns for up to 96 hours. Steam is used as a protective gas and helps to prevent the wood from splitting and becoming damaged during treatment.

What is Thermowood cladding?

Thermowood cladding comes from Scandinavian softwood timber that has been heat treated. When Thermowood is manufactured, it is subjected to pressure and heat, as well as nitrogen and water vapour to control the drying process.

What does heat treating do to wood?

Heat Treatment(HT) is a process whereby lumber isheatedin a closed chamber until it reaches a core temperature of 56°C for at least 30 minutes in order to kill pathogens such as insects, fungi, or micro-organisms.

Does thermowood need treating?

As Thermowood is expected to have a prolonged life, it doesn't necessarily need a surface treatment applied to it. Some people choose to add a finish, stain or paint to their timber to enrich its colour, but if it's left untreated, the wood will naturally change to a silvery grey (similar to that of cedar or larch).

What is thermally modified poplar?

Published on Apr 27, 2018.Thermally Modified Poplar is produced by the thermo-treatment process. When complete, the process caramelizes the sugars in the wood which gives the ash a dark brown appearance all the way through the wood. The process also allows the poplar to become more water resistant and decay resistant.

How do you apply thermally modified wood?

Thermally modified wood, iswoodthat has beenmodifiedby a controlled pyrolysis process ofwoodbeing heated (> 180 °C) in absence of oxygen inducing some chemical changes to the chemical structures of cell wall components (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) in thewoodin order to increase its durability.

How long does wood cladding last?

As it is a highly durable building material, claddingboards are expected tolastfor over 50 years but, during this time, thewoodwill age or, as it is known in the industry, weather. This weathering process will change the surface appearance of the boards and, potentially, the overall look of the building.

Possibilities of wood construction When used right, it saves money, time and nature. Fast, light, green construction Using prefabricated wood elements makes both the design and construction phase easy and quick. Wood is an extremely light-weighted material compared to other building materials. This enables long spans of load-bearing elements, and also saves costs in logistics. Wood is a renewable material that has a suprisingly small carbon footprint during the whole lifecycle and can be used in buildings to store carbon. Wooden construction materials can be produced with 100% bioenergy and they can be recycled after the usage.
